Atlanta COT Test Day 2: Speeds increase Speeds from the test of the car of tomorrow at Atlanta Motor Speedway rose Tuesday morning as the second day of the session got under way. Kyle Busch's fast lap of 187.095 mph was more than a tenth of a second faster than his best lap Monday, when he also topped the speed chart. Busch is driving Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 18, which he will drive in 2008 when the team switches to Toyota. Busch is in a Chevrolet for the Atlanta test. Second-fastest Tuesday was Busch teammate Denny Hamlin, who went 187.026. Scott Riggs (Haas CNC Racing) was third at 186.742, with Kasey Kahne (Gillett Evernham Motorsports) fourth at 186.184.
John 'Crash' Andretti (BAM Racing) slammed the wall in Turn 4 on Monday, causing heavy damage to the No. 49 Dodge. He was released from the infield care center unhurt.
