Multi-year deal sees Honda sponsor Toronto race  UPDATE #2 Added photo from announcement Thursday below.

09/18/08 There may be only one Canadian in the field though that will line up for the green flag - Marty Roth of Toronto.

Paul Tracy of Toronto finished fourth in the Rexall Edmonton Indy in July for Vision Racing, in his first IRL appearance since 2002. But the Champ Car veteran hasn't been able to secure a permanent ride.

Michael Andretti said it wouldn't hurt to have a high-profile Canadian in the lineup, but it's not crucial.

"Obviously it would be really great to have Paul back in there for sure for the event, but having said that, there is a following for our series here, you just feel it when you come here, everybody knows everything that's going on," Andretti said. "It would be a great bonus if we had them, but we don't I still think it's going to be a great success."

The Ontario government is providing $1 million a year for the next three years for the event, which generates an estimated $50 million in Toronto. CP
