Gutiérrez claims pole position for Formula BMW World Final A second-place finish in the third heat for the Formula BMW World Final 2008 in Mexico City (MX) was enough for Josef Kaufmann Racing's Esteban Gutiérrez (MX) to secure pole position for the climax of the weekend's racing. In the last intermediate heat the local hero could only be beaten by his team-mate, Michael Christensen (DK). Mikael Grenier (CA) finished third for the Apex-HBR Racing Team.
In the points' standings which determine the starting grid for the highlight of the Formula BMW season, Gutiérrez only has five points to his tally, thus leading Christensen by two points. Daniel Juncadella (ES/Eurointernational), who like Gutiérrez had one of Saturday's heats, will line up in the second row of the grid next to Formula BMW Americas' overall winner, Alexander Rossi (US/Eurointernational).
The Formula BMW World Final will start at 14:50hrs local time (20:50hrs GMT). The winner will get the chance to drive a BMW Sauber F1 Team Formula One car.
