Jean Todt resigns from Ferrari
Jean Todt
Former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt has severed all ties with the Maranello company.

Todt had previously held a number of posts after resigning as CEO last year, but he has now decided to quit Ferrari altogether.

The Frenchman was instrumental in resurrecting the fortunes of the previously ailing team after joining them in 1993, overseeing Michael Schumacher's rise to dominance.

Praising Todt's contribution, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said: "Jean Todt has been one of the leading protagonists of the Ferrari story of the last 15 years.

"Skill and passion have always characterized his work and have won him my personal respect and affection, the one of the company as a whole, and of the Prancing Horse enthusiasts everywhere.

"I would like to wish him the very best for the future which I hope will prove extremely satisfying both personally and professionally.

"All of these years we've spent together - victories and tough times included - have forged a link between Jean Todt and Ferrari that will never be broken."

The prospect now is for Todt to stand for FIA president should Max Mosley opt to step down when his present mandate ends in October, or even stand against the Briton should he run for a fifth term.
