Mike Rockenfeller in the No. 2 Audi running in 2nd place
Peugeot's Pedro Lamy and Audi's Allan McNish waged an incredible battle for the overall lead at Sebring at the one-hour mark of the 57th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. McNish in the new Audi R15 TDI got around Lamy in the Peugeot 908 at the 1:05 mark as the two diesel powers locked horns.
The pairing was six seconds clear of Mike Rockenfeller in the second diesel Audi. The pole winning De Ferran Acura was fading fast, obviously slower on the straights than the Audi and Peugeot.
In LMP2, the pole-sitting Lowe's Fernandez Racing Acura ARX-01b and Luis Diaz held a 35-second lead over Dyson Racing's Butch Leitzinger and his Mazda-powered Lola coupe.
Johnny O'Connell had gotten around Corvette Racing teammate Olivier Beretta to reclaim the class lead for the GT1 pole-sitting Corvette C6.R. This is the last race at Sebring for the GT1 C6.R.
Dirk Werner held a 25-second lead for Farnbacher Loles Racing and its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in GT2. The German pole-winner led over the Ferrari F430 GTs of Mika Salo from Risi Competizione and Mathias Russo for Advanced Engineering Pecom Racing.
