AGR team expands Dr Pepper sponsorship deal Andretti Green Racing announced today it has signed a partnership agreement with Dr Pepper Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS) that expands an existing partnership to include Venom Energy, a hardcore energy drink designed to keep you going all day.
The new agreement is tied to the #26 program of Andretti Green driver Marco Andretti and kicks off with this weekend's IndyCar Series event at Kansas Speedway where Venom Energy will serve as primary sponsor of Marco Andretti and the #26 car. Venom Energy will also hold that position in next month's running of the Indianapolis 500.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group will feature multiple brands in a rotation during 10 of the final 15 events of the 2009 season and will either hold the position of primary sponsor or major associate sponsor, depending on the race market.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group is in its third season with Andretti Green and has an existing relationship through the Team 7-Eleven program and driver Tony Kanaan. Dr Pepper shared the primary sponsorship position with 7-Eleven on the team's #11 entry this past weekend at the Grand Prix of Long Beach where Kanaan wheeled to a third-place finish in his 100th career IndyCar Series start.
In addition to its Andretti Green Racing effort, Dr Pepper Snapple Group will also serve as an associate sponsor and the Official Carbonated Soft Drink of the Honda Indy Toronto, which is being promoted by Andretti Green Toronto July 10-12 in the streets of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
