New sponsor for former Surfers Miss Indy contest UPDATE TW Steel, the Dutch watch brand ‘Big in Oversized Watches’, has been announced today as the naming rights sponsor for the Miss SuperGP model search.
The winner of what will now be known as the TW Steel Miss SuperGP competition will be chosen from finalists across Australia and New Zealand and crowned at the Gold Coast’s Nitro SuperGP, October 22-25.
Chief Executive Officer of TW Steel, Jordy Cobelens, flew in to Australia to sign the contract today with the executives of Procon Leisure – the national organizers of the model search – accompanied by Miss SuperGP ambassador Samantha Adams at the Nitro SuperGP offices.
Based on an initial three-year relationship, the TW Steel Miss SuperGP program will further help to promote TW Steel’s growth in the all-important Australian marketplace, while complementing the company’s existing Miss TW Steel programs run in conjunction with other selected A1GP World Cup of Motorsport events.
“TW Steel is proud to partner with Procon Leisure and support such an established, well-executed and more importantly, highly-popular Australian event!” said Cobelens.
“We are obviously looking forward to using this partnership to further promote our brand and ultimately our watches in the marketplace.
“Our Miss TW Steel contests in A1GP this season have proved to be extremely popular and I know that TW Steel Miss SuperGP will play an important role in the continued success of the Nitro SuperGP in October!”
With its name meaning ‘The Watch in Steel’, the four-year-old Amsterdam-based company has firmly established itself as a leader and innovator in the field of oversized watches and has already been pro-active in the sponsorship arena in a relationship as ‘Official Watch and Timing Partner’ to A1GP World Cup of Motorsport through the current 2008-09 season.
Procon Leisure Australia Managing Director, Rosko Dickinson, said he was pleased to be able to welcome TW Steel onboard as naming rights partner to Miss SuperGP.

The 2009 Nitro SuperGP, October 22-25, will be one of the first rounds of the 2009-10 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport and Round 11 of the V8 Supercars Championship Series.
