Reunion Special to Open All-Star Week on SPEED SPEED kicks off coverage of the 25th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race in grand fashion on May 11 with a trio of specials, highlighted by an All-Star reunion show that brings together a diverse band of participants, all ready to share their All-Star memories.
25th NASCAR All-Star Reunion (May 11, 10 p.m. ET) will be hosted by Kyle Petty and Randy Pemberton and include appearances by drivers Bill Elliott, Ryan Newman, legendary broadcaster Barney Hall and many others. From Darrell Waltrip’s controversial win in the first All-Star race to Kasey Kahne’s unlikely fan-assisted victory in 2008, stories will be shared by those who were closest to the action.
“With the historic 25th running of the All-Star race, we wanted to bring our viewers some of the voices and stories that have helped shape and define this unique event,” said Steve Craddock, SPEED SVP of Programming. “Just like the race itself, this conversation will be fun, unpredictable and very special for the fans.”
In addition, the one-hour special will look back at many of the one-night-only rules and formats that have been used in the All-Star race … from fan voting to field inversions to last-lap dashes for cash, the All-Star race has always offered a unique brand of racing.
The Monday night All-Star kickoff also includes a first-ever, live-audience edition of This Week in NASCAR (May 11, 8 p.m. ET) from the new Charlotte-based SPEED HD studios hosted by Steve Byrnes with panelists Michael Waltrip and Greg Biffle, as well as Making the Race (May 11, 9 p.m. ET), a one-hour look at how each driver made the 25th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
The Monday specials begin a week of All-Star coverage on SPEED, culminating in the “48 Hours of All-Star” weekend and highlighted by live and exclusive coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Showdown and NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 16 at 7 p.m. ET.
