KV Racing adds associate sponsor for 500 KV Racing Technology announced today that FORDAHL-FOQ Group has joined the team as an associate sponsor for the 2009 Indianapolis 500, May 24, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.
FORDAHL-FOQ Group, one of the leading global players in the industry of time components for telecommunications systems, will be an associate sponsor on the #15 GEICO – KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone machine driven by Paul Tracy.
“We are pleased to welcome back FORDAHL-FOQ Group as a sponsor of KV Racing Technology for this year’s Indy 500,” said KVRT co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven. “FORDAHL-FOQ Group is an outstanding company and a leader in the industry. This is a particularly welcome announcement since FORDAHL-FOQ previously was a sponsor of KVRT in 2007, so it is like teaming up with an old friend.”
Nils Engdahl President of The FORDAHL-FOQ Group said, "We are proud to support KV Racing Technology and Paul Tracy in this year's effort for the Indianapolis 500. As Kevin (Kalkhoven) said, we are old friends teaming up again. This is a great opportunity for our Group to re-assess our presence on the North American market and we are also very happy to see a great driver like Paul back on the track."
Tracy, who qualified 13th for this weekend’s Indy 500 with a four-lap average speed of 223.111 mph, will be making his sixth appearance at the Speedway and first since his controversial runner-up finish in 2002. The native of Canada and 2003 Champ Car World Series champion is competing in his 19th open-wheel and third IndyCar season (one race in 2002, the Indy 500; one race in 2008 at Edmonton). The 2009 Indy 500 will be Tracy’s 265th career start, third in the IndyCar Series (over three different seasons) and first with KVRT. Tracy has earned 31 wins (tied for seventh all-time), 25 poles (ninth all-time), and has led 4,238 laps (sixth all-time).
