Glock launches charity auction Panasonic Toyota Racing driver Timo Glock on Saturday night launched an online charity auction to raise funds for the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) via www.wfp.org/formula1-auction.
Timo paid a visit to the ring° arena at the Nürburgring, venue for this weekend's German Grand Prix, to publicly announce the start of an auction which will raise much-needed funds for the WFP's 'Fill the Cup' program to feed hungry children around the world.
On offer is Timo's unique signed racing helmet from the German Grand Prix weekend, which was designed by a schoolboy winner of a Panasonic competition.
Bids can be made for this helmet via www.wfp.org/formula1-auction with all proceeds going to the 'Fill the Cup' campaign. In addition to this auction, donations to WFP can be made via the website and, with only 20 cents providing a nutritious cup of porridge to a hungry child, even small donations can make a real difference.
Felix Sturm, who beat Khoren Gevor at the ring° arena last night, is also auctioning his signed gloves from that bout to benefit the WFP, with an auction beginning on eBay next week.
Timo appeared in the ring prior to the fight at around 10pm along with Tom Luca Hoffmann, who won the Panasonic 'Kids School' helmet design competition. Tom, accompanied by his parents, was celebrating his seventh birthday.
The WFP was selected as the chosen charity due to its links with Panasonic Toyota Racing. The 'Fill the Cup' logo appears on the front wing thanks to team partner ALJ, which has donated its space to the WFP.
Panasonic Toyota Racing has already helped promote WFP's 'Fill the Cup' campaign with celebrity appearances at Grands Prix to raise awareness. In Monaco, Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta visited while fellow WFP ambassador, and Swiss pop star, DJ BoBo was a guest at the Nürburgring.
