Brabham fastest in Lime Rock Warm-up  Eager for a repeat of last year’s magical victory at Lime Rock Park, David Brabham set the fastest time in the 20-minute raceday warm-up for the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix. The reigning Le Mans champion turned in a time of 48.778 in the Acura ARX-02a that he will drive with Scott Sharp.

The pairing gave Patr¢n Highcroft Racing and Acura their first overall victory in 2008 with a late-race pass. The car will start on the outside of the front row after Friday’s qualifying.

Adrian Fernandez, the LMP2 pole-winner, was second quickest overall and first in P2 with a 49.015. Fernandez and Luis Diaz haven’t lost in class this season in Lowe’s Fernandez Racing’s Acura ARX-02a. The car was 0.611 seconds clear of Gil de Ferran and de Ferran Motorsports’ overall pole-winning Acura, which saw Simon Pagenaud take fast qualifier honors Friday.

De Ferran’s best lap was a 49.626, 1.671 seconds better than Johnny Mowlem in Corsa Motorsports’ hybrid-powered Ginetta-Zytek 09HS prototype that was third in P1 and fourth overall.

Dyson Racing’s Guy Smith was second in P2 behind the wheel of Dyson Racing’s first Mazda-powered Lola B09/86 coupes with a lap of 51.998 in the prototype he will drive with Chris Dyson. Van der Steur Racing’s AER-powered Radical SR9 of Adam Pecorari and Gunner van der Steur was third in class at 55.329.

In GT2, Flying Lizard Motorsports’ and Porsche factory driver Jörg Bergmeister went quickest at 55.730 in the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR that he will drive with Patrick Long. Bergmeister has won each year at Lime Rock since 2006. He was 0.13 seconds ahead of Farnbacher Loles Racing’s Wolf Henzler, himself a factory driver.

They won last year together for Flying Lizard.

Class pole-winner Jaime Melo in Risi Competizione’s Ferrari F430 GT was third in class with a lap of 55.876.

ORBIT Racing’s John Baker was the quickest Challenge class driver in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car he will share with Guy Cosmo. The New York native’s best lap was a 1:01.917 that gave him a 1.111-second gap back to Gruppe Orange’s Nick Parker.

The green flag for the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix is set for 2:05 p.m. ET with live coverage on SPEED. American Le Mans Radio presented by Porsche and Live Timing and Scoring is on americanlemans.com.
