Miller Motorsports Park announces schedule Entering its fifth season of operation, Miller Motorsports Park has crafted an ambitious schedule of events that includes one new major race and some date changes for others, some exciting new mid-level events plus its regular lineup of local racing that includes a new class of competition.
The first major event of the 2010 season will take place over Memorial Day weekend, May 28-31, with the third annual appearance of the HANNspree Superbike World Championship. Support series will include the Supersport World Championship and the second annual Larry H. Miller Superbike Challenge.
The weekend of June 26-27 will bring a new type of racing to Miller Motorsports Park. The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series utilizes two- and four-wheel-drive trucks and buggies in short-course off-road racing, which will require Miller Motorsports Park to construct a new off-road racing circuit within the infield of the existing paved racetrack. Some of the trucks in this series utilize engines approaching 900 hp and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to build. They will be spectacular on the jumps and whoops of the new circuit in an event sure to be very popular in this market.
The Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix for the American Le Mans Series shifts dates from mid-May to the weekend of July 10-11 in 2010, but the world’s most sophisticated sports cars will be just as spectacular as ever. Support series for this event will include the Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, the Patrόn GT3 Challenge by Yokohama and the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship.
The final major event of the season will be the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, joined by the NASCAR Camping World Series, over the weekend of September 11-12. This will be the season finale for the Rolex Series, as well as for the supporting Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series (formerly KONI Sports Car Challenge) Miller Motorsports Park’s own Ford Racing Mustang Challenge and the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup.
Mid-level events will include the first-ever appearance at MMP by the Ferrari Challenge (April 10-11), which will include their Corse Cliente program that will bring Ferrari Formula 1 cars and the incredible Enzo-based FXX sports cars to Utah for the first time; a new SCCA Pro Racing weekend that will include the SCCA Trans-Am Series, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup, plus two other support series (June 5-6); three appearances by the Porsche Club of America (April 17-18, June 5-6 and September 25-26); WERA Motorcycle Roadracing (May 22-23); Racing 2 Save Lives (July 3-4); the SCCA Great Salt Race (August 14-15); the United States Kart Grand Prix (August 28-29); Cycle Fest featuring the Bonneville Vintage Grand Prix (September 4-5); the NASA National Championships (September 18-19); and another new event that will return the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge Series to Utah for the first time since 2007 and adds the Viper Owners Invitational, which will bring V10-powered Dodge Vipers from across America and overseas for two days of racing (October 2-3).
Local racing will include the Miller Park Racing Association for sports cars, the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains Series for road racing motorcycles and two karting championships, the Icebreaker kart Championship and the Utah Kart Championship. A new series, Speedway Karts and Quarter-Midgets, will compete on a new oval circuit constructed at the Miller Karting Complex.
