Doru Sechelariu together with Tech 1 Racing Tech 1 Racing kicks off 2010 by announcing its first driver in the GP3 Series. The Toulouse-based team will enter three cars one of which will be driven by Rumanian, Doru Sechelariu, a young gun from Formula BMW.
The first official GP3 test session will take place on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit at the beginning of March, by which time Tech 1 Racing will have announced the names of its three drivers for its first season in the championship. One name is already on the list – Doru Sechelariu. The 17-year-old Rumanian did a year in Formula Renault 1.6 Belgium followed by a couple of seasons in Formula BMW. He will move up a notch to GP3 with the Tech 1 Racing team.
“Doru Sechelariu is the first driver we’ve announced officially for our GP3 program,” explains Simon Abadie, the Tech 1 Racing team manager. “He’s very young and this season his aim will be to fight at the front at this new level. He’s proved his speed and his capacity to work, and we’re delighted to welcome him to Tech 1 Racing. The real aim of this formula is to train young drivers and that’s what we’re going to do with Doru.”
The GP3 season will soon be under way. The three GP3 cars will arrive in the Tech 1 Racing workshops in a few days: the countdown’s begun. “We’re giving this new car an in-depth examination at the moment. Our first deadline is in March with the first collective test session. Between now and then we’ll announce our other two drivers, which we hope to do in the near future.”
