Nicky Hayden the only American to beat F1 winners and a World Champion... on 4 wheels! WILL USF1 offer him a test PLEASE??
Nicky Hayden beat Ferrari F1 stars Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso - plus his Ducati MotoGP team-mate Casey Stoner - to win a go-kart ice race during the conclusion of the 20th edition of the Wrooom Press Ski Meeting.
The race was held on a frozen lake at Madonna di Campiglio in Italy, where the combined Ferrari/Ducati press event – including the unveiling of the Ducati Desmosedici GP10 - took place last week.
The go-kart race was dominated from start to finish by 2006 MotoGP world champion Hayden, who shared the podium champagne with Massa and Stoner. New Ferrari signing Alonso failed to finish after crashing into the protective barriers.
Alonso is a double F1 world champion, while Massa finished a close second in the 2008 F1 world championship.
Stoner, the 2007 MotoGP world champion, is also something of a karting expert and recently revealed he would like to race V8 Supercars after his two-wheeled career ends.
Hayden, on the other hand, has shown little interest in switching to four-wheels - so far at least.
Earlier in the evening, Hayden finished third - behind Massa and Stoner, but ahead of Alonso and Ferrari test driver Giancarlo Fischella - in a Panda 4x4 ice race.
Hayden and Stoner will be back on two-wheels during the first MotoGP test of 2010, to be held at Sepang in Malaysia, from February 3-5.
