FAZZT Race Team Barber test preview Based on the forecast for lower than normal temperatures in the Birmingham, Alabama area this week, the FAZZT Race Team and driver Alex Tagliani have made the decision to forgo the IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test and instead continue shop based preparations for the season opening IZOD IndyCar Series event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on March 14. Alex will still participate in the scheduled media day on Tuesday, February 23 at Barber Motorsports Park but the team will not run their #77 B & W FAZZT Race Team entry in the scheduled open test on Wednesday and Thursday.
FAZZT Race Team General Manager Rob Edwards elaborated on the decision saying, "We are in the fortunate position of having had very successful tests at Homestead and Sebring in January. Since those tests, our engineers have continued testing on the seven-post rig, gearbox rig and in the wind tunnel to further develop our race package. Given the inclement weather forecast for Barber over the next few days and after much discussion, we believe the best use of our time is to continue our preparations for Brazil here in Indianapolis."
Engineer Allen McDonald also commented on the decision not to participate in the open test saying, "The Sebring test gave us a lot of data to look over and suggested some key development programs to pursue on the shaker rig, in the wind tunnel and elsewhere. All of the crew has put a huge effort into turning these development ideas into actual parts and chassis settings in a very short time span. Given the likely difficult weather conditions at Barber; it is probably in our best interest to use our remaining time here in the shop and put the finishing touches on our development items for the season opening race in Brazil."
The team will continue work on their #77 B & W FAZZT Race Team entry in their Indianapolis shop until the load date for Brazil on March 3. Fazzt race team PR
