Liverpool planning F1 street demonstration
The British city of Liverpool hopes to see Formula 1 cars on its streets in May in order to celebrate the 'Liverpool Pageant of Power' event. Roads in the city centre will be closed to the public on Tuesday 25 May in order to allow F1 cars, amongst others, to zoom through. With Silverstone confirmed as home of the British Grand Prix for the next 17 years, fans will be treated to an early arrival of F1 this year as a selection of motor vehicles are taken to Merseyside including motorbikes, speedboats and a 100 mile per hour JCB dragster, accompanied by classic cars and an Airshow.

The event, organized by the property development firm which build the two billion-pound Liverpool ONE shopping centre (which celebrates its second anniversary this year), will serve as a preview for the 'Cholmondeley Pageant of Power', which will be held at Cholmondeley Castle at Malpas in Cheshire this July.

"We have been having very detailed discussions with the highways authorities about closing roads on 24 May," Event Director James Hall explained to The Telegraph.

"It will be an evening event and there is a blueprint from the Tall Ships and other events that shows can be done with minimal disruption to traffic and the working of the city. All of the shops and restaurants will be open and we are confident that it will be a nice, safe and friendly environment for families to come and enjoy."
