Spanish GP: Vettel quickest in Practice 2, Schumacher improves Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel was the only driver to below the 1m20s barrier, setting a best time two tenths of a second faster than teammate Mark Webber, who sat atop the timesheet for the majority of the session after posting the best time on the hard tire runs early on.
The pair were six tenths clear of the rest of the field. But the pack was tightly packed behind with the next six tenths covering from third to ninth.
Michael Schumacher was the fastest of the challengers, continuing to overshadow Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg now that he has a car that suits him. "Today I felt much more comfortable in the car and feel that it is behaving more consistently. In my view, our upgrade is a step forward but we have to wait and see how big the step is as the other teams have obviously improved as well. Now we have to deeply analyze the data to get a better overview on the actual situation and as usual after the Friday practice sessions, it is difficult to estimate where you actually are in comparison to our competitors. We will only have the real picture after qualifying tomorrow."
