Victoria extends MotoGP deal The Australian MotoGP will be held in the southern state of Victoria until at least 2016, with the option to extend until 2026.
It had been suggested Sydney could poach the event, with the New South Wales government declaring interest in hosting both the Australian MotoGP and Formula One grand prix.
"We are delighted to be announcing the contract extension," Australian MotoGP chief executive Drew Ward said.
"The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is regarded as one of the best events on the MotoGP calendar and we are very much looking forward to October."
The 2010 MotoGP takes place at Phillip island between 15-17 of October.
