7 straight for ECR Engines Kevin Harvick's win Sunday at MIS was ECR Engine's 15th victory in NASCAR's top-three touring series this season. It was the sixth win in the Sprint Cup Series -- Harvick has three, Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing's Jamie McMurray has two (the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400) and his EGR teammate, Juan Pablo Montoya, has one. ECR has also earned three Nationwide Series victories (Harvick, two; Tony Stewart, one) and six Camping World Truck Series victories (Harvick, three; Austin Dillon, one; Ron Hornaday, one, Elliott Sadler, one) in 2010. Harvick became the first driver to clinch a spot in the 2010 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
It will be his fourth time in the past five seasons that he and RCR's No. 29 team have earned a spot in The Chase. ECR Engines earned a total of five top-10 finishes this weekend alone. In addition to Harvick's victory, Montoya finished seventh in the Sprint Cup Series race at MIS. Harvick finished seventh in Saturday's CARFAX 250 Nationwide Series race at MIS, and Hornaday and Dillon finished third and fifth, respectively, in Saturday's Too Tough to Tame 200 Camping World Truck Series race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.
"It's a great day for Richard Childress Racing, ECR engines and Chevrolet," said Danny Lawrence, trackside manager for ECR. "Kevin drove a really smart race. He was conscious of what he needed to do and where he needed to be. The pit stops by the Shell-Pennzoil team were great all day and fuel mileage was good. You just don't get many days where everything goes as smoothly as that. It's really rewarding to be able to see that smile on Richard's face because he knows how big it is to win at Michigan. Every race pays the same amount of points but this race is special because we were able to win in Chevrolet's backyard, and they have been a great partner, so that really makes us feel good."
