2010 Kentucky race data announced Confirming the rumor we had on our rumors page about this, the annual IZOD IndyCar Series race at Kentucky Speedway will move from Labor Day weekend next year but remain paired with NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series.
Kentucky Speedway general manager Mark Simendinger said Friday the IndyCar race will be held Oct. 2, 2011, a day after the truck series races at the track. The complete 2011 IndyCar schedule will be announced Friday.
"I think that works out great,” Simendinger said. “I was talking to both series about it. They both really like it. So I think that part works. I think the October date might be a little bit better.”
Truck series drivers and crews assembled before Friday’s Built Ford Tough 225 also learned that they’ll be visiting Kentucky Speedway twice in 2011. The newly added race, scheduled for July 7, will kick off a tripleheader weekend to include the Nationwide Series (July 8) and Sprint Cup Series (July 9).
Next year we’re going to have a significant season ticket base,” Simendinger said. “We’re going to have a significant camping base already here. So I think it’s going to be an extremely well-attended event.” Cincinnati.com
