Dario says it's all or nothing for 2011 Reigning IndyCar Series Champion Dario Franchitti has said under no uncertain terms that, should he run in next year’s Indianapolis 500, he will be contesting the entire championship season with Target Chip Ganassi, with rumors currently circulating around Graham Rahal’s possible recruitment at the team.
Rahal is yet to complete a full season since last doing so with Newman/Haas/Lanigan in 2009 although it is believed the American now hopes for a full-time Ganassi seat in 2010; Franchitti’s stance remains firm, however.
“If I'm coming back, I'm coming back for the whole season,” the Scot told the IndyStar after finishing a determined second to Penske’s Helio Castroneves at Japan’s Motegi Twin Ring on Sunday.
“One of the most aggressive, mistake-free races I've ever driven,” Dario continued. “I was on the edge every single bloody lap. My desire is still there. If we can still be competitive, let's keep doing it. I love it.”
Now 12 points in arrears of championship leader Will Power, Franchitti targets a third IndyCar title at the season-ending race in Miami on Saturday 2 October.
