Pescarolo Sport auctioned off, to still race When I walked in my workshop for the auction sale of Pescarolo Sport, I have had the terrible impression that I was going to attend my own funerals.
My friends were there with gloomy faces, the fans came to support and expect a miracle and the others were there too, check-book in hand, ready to finalize the dismembering started a year ago by the former owner. Only one slight relief: the number of journalists and photographers present at the auction sale proved that the public was not indifferent to the disappearance of the team I had founded a decade earlier.
My whole team was present and we were standing altogether, assisting to this incredible bids, discovering with horror that all we had built and won together was being scattered all over Europe.
And then came the surprise: I noticed two passionate friends, Joel Rivière (Prestige Racing) and Jacques Nicolet, my former partner (Oak Racing) together with another friend of mine, Mr. Poulain making the highest bid on the gathering of the lots previously knocked down. There were some applause among the audience and much to my surprise, my friends handed me over the keys of the workshop as a symbol. We were finally back home! They offered us the possibility to run for the season 2011, the two Pescarolos LMP1 they just had bought. This really reconciles me with the human gender and I will never be grateful enough to them: thanks to their passion for racing and to their friendship, Joel and Jacques had just decided together, to make sure the equipment would not leave the Technoparc thus allowing me to restart my Endurance Team.
Jacques Nicolet: "We are just facilitators; Oak Racing is not a partner and will not be involved in the new structure Henri will create."
Joel Rivière: "I will always be very close to Henri. "
This constitutes a fabulous hope for all those who kept supporting us but it is also for me an additional responsibility. I recover the controls, with a still complete team, with good drivers, and with two very good cars. It is now my job to materialize all the contacts I made. Thanks to my faithful partners and thanks to the new ones that will come on board, we will participate to the Endurance Championships and to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the same objective as we ever have had: the podium..
