Speed TV news OUT WITH A BANG: The SPEED Report closes out the 2010 season with a special edition Sunday at 7 p.m. ET that ranks the top newsmakers of the year in motor sports. Rick Allen and Ralph Sheheen host the one-hour program that grades candidates based upon their dominance of the headlines throughout the 2010 season more than championships and wins accrued. Allen, Sheheen and The SPEED Report staff’s selections pack a few punches in this year-in-review with a twist, particularly with the top newsmaker of the year.
SPEED PERFORMANCE AWARDS: Fan voting opened Monday for the final three categories in the 5th Annual SPEED Performance Awards. Video candidates for Biggest Hit, Temper Temper and RACER Magazine Rookie of the Year are now available for viewing and voting at www.speedperformanceawards.com, with voting open for all nine categories through Dec. 19. Winners will be revealed as part of a one-hour television special in February.
DO THE MATH: SPEED broadcast nearly 550 hours of NASCAR programming from NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events during the 2010 season, equitable to being on the air for 23 straight days. NASCAR on SPEED already is full-speed ahead for the 2011 season, incorporating fresh approaches and new looks for the upcoming year beginning with Daytona testing in January and Daytona Speedweeks in February.
