Jerez: Stoner nip Pedrosa in Practice 1 Casey Stoner nipped Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa in first MotoGP practice session at Jerez Friday morning in southern France. Stoner got down to a 1m39.551s to beat Pedrosa by just 0.028 seconds, as the duo continued their early domination of the 2011 MotoGP season.
Valentino Rossi, still recovering from off-season surgery, took third place ahead of Marco Simoncelli's Gresini Honda, and Jorge Lorenzo.
Andrea Dovizioso was a disappointing sixth on the third factory Honda, 0.8s off the pace. Trying to hard he then crashed at Turn 11 on his final lap, but was unhurt.
Ben Spies (Yamaha), Colin Edwards (Tech 3 Yamaha), Randy de Puniet (Pramac Ducati) and Nicky Hayden (Ducati) completed the top 10.
