Well he did it again, but this time he took himself out with a boneheaded outside pass maneuver. Helio Castroneves’ string of making contact in every race this season was extended.
“I thought bad things come in threes, but here’s a fourth,” he said. “Hopefully at Indy we’ve got to have our luck back.”
Franchitti confirmed the contact with Castroneves, but questioned the three-time Indy 500 winner’s choice of places to attempt a pass.
“Helio came alongside me, I got oversteer and we touched and he ended up in the fence,” said the Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver. “I’m not sure that was a really a passing point, as bad as the conditions were.”
