Sponsor extends 26-year deal with John Force Racing Automotive lubricant brand Castrol has extended its long-term sponsorship of NHRA team John Force Racing.
The BP-owned brand's sponsorship renewal sees the partnership between the two organizations continue into its 26th year, making it one of the longest active sponsorships in sports.
"We’ve grown up together," team owner and driver, John Force said of his relationship with Castrol. "This is 26 years and now I really want to break the [30-year] record Kenny Bernstein had with Budweiser. That’s what I’m shooting for."
Though financial details of the agreement were not released, the sponsorship will see Castrol continue to have a major presence on all three of the drag racing team's cars.
"Our relationship with John Force and his team has been a key element in establishing Castrol as a brand of choice among American race fans, and we are excited about continuing our association with drag racing’s biggest winner," said Mike Munro, BP Lubricants Americas general manager.
Since the partnership began, in total John Force Racing has won 17 of the last 21 NHRA Championships and has accumulated a record 200 Funny Car victories.
