Ambrose top final Cup practice at The Glen Marcos Ambrose paced the final Sprint Cup practice at Watkins Glen International.
Ambrose's lap of 126.604 mph Friday afternoon was a touch faster than Penske Racing's Kurt Busch (125.795) and points leader Carl Edwards (125.761).
Brad Keselowski (125.722) and Martin Truex Jr. (125.636) rounded out the top five.
Matt Kenseth and Robby Gordon got together early in the final 80-minute Cup practice with Gordon’s car suffering damage to its right rear quarter panel. Kenseth locked up the brakes on his car and suffered left front fender damage.
David Ragan got loose and spun entering the chicane later in the session.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. also spun late getting into Turn 1. Junior suffered no significant damage to his car.
