After years of speculation, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that there will be a Black Series version of its SLS AMG supercar Ever since the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG came out, we have all been wondering if the firm would do a Black Series version of the car. Well, now it’s official, an SLS Black is on its way.
The director of vehicle development at Mercedes, Tobais Moers, said, “We absolutely have to do a Black Series.” He didn’t reveal any other information but you can bet it will lose some weight, as well as gain some extra ponies under its bonnet.
Speculating is that it will get a revised 6.3-litre V8 engine with 450kW and nearly 700Nm of torque. This should make it even more fun than the standard car.
In other SLS news, there will also be an even hotter version on sale in Europe, a road-going version of the SLS AG GT3 race car. This model will apparently make the SLS Black look tame but sadly it’s likely only to be sold in Europe. People in the United States won’t even get to buy it as modifying it to comply with US regulations will be too costly.
