Costa wins final World Series by Renault race of 2011 While Albert Costa won his first World Series by Renault race Sunday in Barcelona, Canadian Robert Wickens was crowned champion without ever completing a single lap. Frenchman Jean Eric Vergne 2nd was third overall and Alexander Rossi 3rd.
Wickens was taken out in a first lap incident that involved 7 to 8 cars opening the door for second in the standing, Vergne, to steal the crown in the final race. But it was not to be as Vergne retired on lap 17, while lying 12th, which would not have been enough to overtake Wickens in the points standings.
