America hosts a season full of premium racing series including the American Le Mans Series, AMA Pro Racing, and the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Thousands of onsite spectators and a global broadcast audience will see the Caterpillar name spanning the track on a pedestrian bridge that provides access to the infield. The Caterpillar Bridge was initially part of an onsite rebranding effort after Caterpillar's 2011 acquisition of Bucyrus International, an existing corporate partner at Road America. Located after turn 14 across a hillside climb to the front straight; the 67' long bridge features extensive exterior sign faces that are visible from the main spectator and competitor gates.
The new partnership with Caterpillar ensures that the mining equipment company will continue to make a visual impression on the Road America audience. George Bruggenthies, track president and general manager, welcomes the developing partnership between Road America and Caterpillar Global Mining. "We are always proud to work with
Wisconsin businesses, especially Milwaukee-area employers, as many of our fans are from the southeastern part of the state, Bruggenthies said, "we also appreciate Caterpillar's involvement in NASCAR and the Caterpillar Racing fans who embrace the unique road racing experience we offer with our June Nationwide Series event."
