Reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel had a troubled start to the final day of testing at Jerez, when an electrical issue caused him to miss the entire morning session after just two laps. Returning in the afternoon, following a precautionary engine change, Vettel toured the circuit a further 48 times, leaving him third fastest.
“I’m happy with the progress we’ve made, I think we managed to get a lot done,” he said: “Of course, this morning was a bit of a setback but these things happen."
“Something like this is simply part of testing, this is the reason why we are here. Of course we would like to get more laps done, but that can't be changed now,"
The two time World Champion finished by saying: "So we go back to the factory, look at everything we have learned from this week and prepare for the next test in Barcelona, where I’m looking forward to putting some more miles on the car.”
In just over a week's time, the Formula 1 circus will travel to Barcelona for the second test of the season at the Circuit de Catalunya.
