Speed Center adds Hornish as analyst  Three-time IndyCar Series champion Sam Hornish Jr., signed with SPEED this week to be an analyst on the popular weekend motor sports news program, SPEED Center. Hornish, who is competing this season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Penske Racing, won the Indianapolis 500 in 2006 and recently became a Nationwide Series winner at Phoenix International Raceway this past November.

“A driver with Sam’s resume is a perfect fit for SPEED Center,” said SPEED President Scott Ackerson. “He adds a knowledgeable and credible voice across multiple racing disciplines, giving support to the show’s position as a motor sports authority.”

“SPEED Center is a true one-stop shop for race fans,” Hornish Jr., said. “If it’s going on at the race track, SPEED is talking about it and I’m really looking forward to being part of the team each weekend.  This will be a lot of fun for me and a neat way to supplement what I am doing on the race track.”

Hornish began racing go-karts at age 11. Four years later he emerged victorious in the World Karting Association’s U.S. Grand National Championship. In 1996, Hornish moved to Formula Ford, spending more than two seasons in the U.S. Formula Ford 2000 Series before progressing to the Toyota Atlantic Championship.

In 2001, he won the first of his three IndyCar Series titles, winning the crown again in 2002 and 2006.  Hornish has won races for Penske Racing in IndyCar, NASCAR Cup (All-Star Showdown) and the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
