Commenting on the Mouser Electronics sponsorship, KVRT General Manager Mark Johnson said, “We are extremely happy to announce this relationship with Mouser Electronics for the 2012 IndyCar Racing Season. Mouser is a world class organization in the electronics component industry and working with Mouser executives Glenn Smith and Larry Johannes to put this program together has been a pleasure. As a team we are excited about the innovative thinking and programs we have coming down the pike and integrating Mouser’s engineering expertise and the demands of the IndyCar electronics world.”
Mouser Vice President of Strategic Marketing Larry Johannes said, “Last year, Mouser attached its name to the high-speed, high-tech world of IndyCar as an innovative way to promote our supplier partners and gain broad exposure as we continue to expand our operations worldwide. Since every advanced, sophisticated component that’s built to go inside an IndyCar is about delivering a speed and performance edge on the track, IndyCar was a natural fit. The decision to sponsor Tony Kanaan was also an easy one for Mouser because of his undeniable skill behind the wheel and his experience as a brand ambassador of motorsports. At Mouser, we’re constantly communicating how using the most advanced technology for design delivers a speed-to-market advantage. IndyCar provides us the perfect vehicle to build top-of-mind awareness for Mouser and our valued supplier and manufacturer rep partnerships.” For more information on Mouser’s IndyCar sponsorship, visit www.mouser.com/indy.
Kanaan, the 2004 IZOD IndyCar Series Champion, will contest his 15th U. S. based open-wheel season, 11th in the IndyCar Series (ran one race, the Indy 500 in 2002) and second with KVRT. One of the most consistent and fearless drivers in the Series, Kanaan is a perennial title threat. The 37-year-old Brazilian, who finished fifth in the IZOD IndyCar Series championship in 2011, has placed in the top-six in the championship every year he has run the full IndyCar season, a total of nine consecutive seasons. Kanaan, who holds the IndyCar Series record for consecutive starts at 148, has made a total of 149 IndyCar starts (242 career) earning 14 victories (15 career), 52 podiums (58 career), 85 top-five top-five finishes (101 career) and 111 top-10 showings (160 career) with 11 poles (15 career).
“There’s no better feeling than having a solid company behind you – the kind of excitement for motorsports we share with Mouser makes it a great experience,” Kanaan said. “When Jimmy (KVRT co-owner Jimmy Vasser) and I were taking a tour of their facilities and saw all the products that they potentially supply to the sport of IndyCar, we were extremely impressed. Mouser is a great partner for us and we are going to work harder than ever to make this a winning partnership on and off the racetrack.”
