Conquest teams with Nissan in ALMS  Conquest Endurance announced today that it has partnered with Nissan North America to run their LMP2 powerplant for the remainder of the 2012 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron (ALMS) season.  The team will debut their new engine at this weekend’s Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series at Long Beach street race.

The NISMO-prepared 4.5L V8 production based engine has set the benchmark in endurance racing and in 2011 it not only took the win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but also the overall LMP2 Championship in the International Le Mans Series.  Conquest Endurance’s #37 Morgan chassis and its drivers Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier Hansson will have the only Nissan-prepared engine in the ALMS field.

“Nissan North America is excited to be working with Conquest Racing and Eric Bachelart again.  Conquest Racing’s consistently strong efforts in the IndyCar series speak for themselves and we anticipate that their LMP2 team will be successful in the American Le Mans Series as well,” said Ron Stukenberg, Senior Manager of Motorsports for Nissan North America.

“Nissan has proven to be the leader in sportscar racing and we are very happy to have their engine powering our LMP2 car.  This partnership solidifies our package in the ALMS and gives us the right tools to go out and win races.  I’d like to thank Nissan North America for their support and we look forward to a successful partnership,” said Eric Bachelart, owner of Conquest Endurance.

The Conquest team had the opportunity to fire their Nissan engine for the first time this weekend at Putman Park, where Plowman had a chance to test the car and familiarize themselves himself with their new powerplant.  The team will now heads west to the streets of Long Beach for this week’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, where they will be looking to continue their positive momentum after a promising podium finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series at Long Beach -, round two of the 2012 American Le Mans Series Season, will take place Saturday April 14th in downtown Long Beach.  The green flag for the two hour race will drop at 4:30 p.m. Pacific PD Time and the race it will be broadcasted LIVE on ESPN2 and ESPN3.com.
