All-Time Indy Car Records dominated by Mario Andretti
Mario Andretti
Except for overall wins, where Mario Andretti ranks second to AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti leads every other meaningful IndyCar record.  And he would have topped the most wins category as well if 1) He did not take time away to win an F1 World Driving title, 2) AJ Foyt did not artificially pad his win total by racing with USAC when all the best teams were in CART.  Foyt had no competition during those years and ran up the total wins.

So if anyone argues that Mario Andretti isn't the greatest American driver in history, just show them the facts that follow (do not include his F1 records, Daytona 500 win, IROC win, sports car wins and dirt track wins).
