Scott Dixon led the charge in pre-qualifying practice June 2 with a quick lap of 1 minute, 11.2845 seconds in the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car on the 2.07-mile, 14-turn Belle Isle street course.
Dixon, the Indianapolis 500 runner-up on May 27, totaled 25 laps in the chilly morning session.
IZOD IndyCar Series championship points leader Will Power, who has won the past three road/street course races, was second quick (1:11.4677) in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car. Ryan Hunter-Reay (1:11.6814), driving the No. 28 Team DHL/Sun Drop Citrus Soda car for Andretti Autosport was third.
