Target Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon ran the fastest lap during Friday evening’s final IZOD IndyCar Series practice for the Firestone 550 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Dixon (No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Honda), who qualified fourth earlier in the day, posted a top lap of 215.795 mph during the final 30-minute practice session in preparation for Saturday night’s Firestone 550. Mike Conway (No. 14 ABC Supply Co./A.J. Foyt Racing Honda), who qualified eighth, made the jump to second fastest in the session at 215.349 mph.
Firestone 550 polesitter Alex Tagliani ran just 12 laps – second least run among the 25-driver field – but still posted the third-fastest lap at 215.795 mph. Takuma Sato (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda), who qualified 10th, gave Honda the four fastest laps as he checked in at 214.531 mph.
Rounding out the top five from the session was Ryan Briscoe (No. 2 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet), who qualified 12th, at 214.887 mph.
