IndyCar updates engine change rule for testing INDYCAR announced today that it has added a rule relating to engine failure during approved INDYCAR on-track testing to the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series rulebook.
Rule 15.5.8 (Approved Engine Change Outs): An Engine that fails during a Team Test, Rookie Test, Engine Manufacturer Test or straight line test may be changed with an Engine from the pool without penalty. This Rule will not apply to Engine failures at Open Tests in Pocono, Mid-Ohio or Sonoma.
