Di Resta car fails inspection, will start last Paul di Resta has been sent to the back of British Grand Prix grid, with stewards deciding to exclude the Scot from qualifying after his car was found to be underweight.
Having qualified a career-best fifth, di Resta's car weighed in at 641.5kg during initial checks, precisely 0.5kg below the minimum weight. The Force India machine was then drained of its fluids, dropping the weight to 640kg, 2kg below the regulation limit.
A recalibration of the FIA's scales altered the weight slightly, but di Resta's car was still 1.5kg below the weight required and therefore in breach of the regulations.
Di Resta falls to 22nd on the grid, behind Caterham's Giedo van der Garde. However, should his car require ballast to reach the limit, he will start from the pit lane.
