07/09/13 Hulman & Company CEO Mark Miles released a statement Tuesday regarding Hulman & Company organization changes that were announced earlier today during a company employee meeting. A new organization chart with functional areas of responsibility is shown above. The statement reads as follows:
Greetings. I wanted to let you know about some changes we're announcing today for Hulman & Company that better define how we serve you for racing, commercial and business operations. This structure will help us operate more effectively and clarify who leads our various divisions. The changes were just announced at an all-staff meeting and are effective immediately.
I will now have a six-person leadership team responsible for these functions:
• Jeff Belskus continues as president and adds chief financial officer of Hulman & Company to his responsibilities. He remains a member of our board of directors. He will oversee the company's shared services functions, including human resources, information technology and finance and accounting, as well as Hulman & Company's non-racing businesses, Clabber Girl and real estate. An additional key priority for Jeff is the development of the master facilities plan to bring some $100 million in improvements to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It's a huge job and tremendously important as we work on improving our fan experience and upgrading IMS. I'm grateful to Jeff for his leadership of the organization, especially his willingness to step up on an interim basis over the past several months.
• Derrick Walker was named in May as president of operations and competition of INDYCAR and as such is the point person for our technical suppliers -- Chevy, Dallara, Honda and Firestone -- as well as race teams. He is responsible for all aspects of the racing operations at our sanctioning body. You know Derrick and can see that he's already deeply ingrained in shaping INDYCAR into a premier organization.
• Robby Greene returns to IMS Productions, our multi-faceted production company, as president. He will continue to be responsible for broadcast, production and radio. Robby stepped in and did a terrific job of guiding us through a transition period as interim chief operating officer of INDYCAR, but I've asked him to return to IMSP and continue to lead growth of the operation.
• Doug Boles is now president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation, responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the facility, including our three major racing events, the Indianapolis 500, Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard and Red Bull Indianapolis GP. He'll also oversee exploring other business opportunities for the Speedway. Doug has served as interim IMS chief operating officer since early this year, and his responsibilities are being expanded even further with this new assignment.
• Gretchen Snelling will continue in her role as vice president and chief legal counsel for Hulman & Company, overseeing all legal and risk management matters. Gretchen has ably served as general counsel since November 2011 and will be focused on integrating the legal department as a key business partner of our operating units.
• A yet to be named president of Hulman Motorsports Properties. This individual will be responsible for all commercial aspects of IndyCar and IMS, including sales, marketing, public relations, and TV and broadcast licensing, as well as licensing of intellectual properties. This individual's responsibilities will eventually include serving as the point person for scheduling and race promoters. For now, I will oversee these functional areas, but I hope to finalize this appointment soon.
After nearly six months of observing how operations can be improved and listening and talking to you, we've designed a structure and nearly completed filling out a team that is focused on the future.
