Goodbye Corvettes
According to the Associated Press, a sinkhole has opened in the middle of the National Corvette Museum.

The hole was discovered before dawn when it triggered a fire alarm at the facility, which led to the museum being closed for the day. Firemen responding to the scene told the AP the hole was about 40 feet across and approximately 25 feet deep.

Museum spokesperson Katie Frassinelli said that eight cars were damaged, six that were owned by the museum and two on loan from General Motors.

The sinkhole is located in the domed portion of the museum, which was built in 1994.

The two damaged cars owned by GM are a 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 Blue Devil.

The six other damaged cars are a 1962 black Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car, a 1992 white 1 Millionth Corvette, a 1993 ruby red 40th anniversary Corvette, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette and a 2009 white 1.5 Millionth Corvette.
