"I am very happy with my first test in the Indy Regency Racing Indy Lights car,” said Garcia. “The team gave me a great race car and really helped me get a feel for it by allowing me to try as many different changes to the set up as time allowed, good and bad, this gave me a unique perspective to how the car should work under many different conditions.” Team owner, Sal Incandela was happy with the results as well.
Time away from the track was a consideration for Garcia as well as the step up to a more powerful car. “Stepping from a formula 2000 car to an Indy Lights car takes a little adjusting because of the horsepower and weight increase but Indy Regency Racing made it a point to get me comfortable in this new car,” said Garcia. “I consider the test an absolute success" After completing the test sessions the team remained at Button Willow East for several days of successful testing with Cory Witherill in preparation for the 2001 season.
