Honda (UK) today (Thursday) unveiled a new competitor for the 2001 Honda Formula 4-stroke Race Series in the form of Jordan Honda, at the London International Boat Show. To complement its new relationship with the mighty engine manufacturer in Formula 1, the Silverstone-based Formula 1 team has taken up the challenge of the seas and embarked upon a full season of powerboat racing in this most competitive of championships.

While the world must wait another 12 days before the covers are removed from the all new Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda Formula 1 machine, the relationship between Jordan and Honda has been further cemented by the team's involvement in the Honda Formula 4-stroke Race Series.

As well as sporting the familiar bright yellow colours of the Jordan GP operation, the Jordan Honda powerboat will also be flying the flag of a new Jordan product, EJ10 the high-tech energy drink.

"We are delighted to be supporting this exciting powerboat series," said Jordan Grand Prix's Chief Executive, Eddie Jordan. "Not only does it give us a great opportunity to work with Honda on exciting projects outside F1, but it also provides a fast, fun and exciting environment in which to promote the Jordan name and our new precision-engineered, caffeine-free energy drink EJ10. We are looking forward to a highly charged season, both on the track and in the water."

The Jordan Honda will compete against an estimated 14 identical boats, all powered by Honda's impressive 4-stroke BF130 engine in arguably the most successful one-make powerboat series in the world. At the helm of the series for the second year in a row is three times Class I World Powerboat Champion Steve Curtis, who believes the series is destined to go from strength to strength.

"The inclusion of the Jordan boat is a further endorsement of the success of this exciting championship," said Steve. "The Honda Formula 4-stroke Race Series offers affordable racing in the framework of a highly professional championship. With high profile names like Jordan joining the fray, we are looking forward to another hugely competitive season."

While the racing pedigree is impossible to ignore, it should be noted that this 21-foot sports cruiser is also a sophisticated and reliable family weekend sports boat. At a cost of £23,995 inclusive of VAT, complete with the superb Honda BF130 engine, it provides the perfect leisure vehicle as well as a finely tuned racing machine.

For those inclined to race, the 10-round Honda Formula 4-stroke Race Series provides the action and the buzz, but if you're not quite ready to race the Jordan Team, this boat is an ideal weekend fun cruiser.
