Quotes from the 19th hour of racing

MIKE DURAND - Driver in the leading #37 Judd Lola of Intersport Racing
“It is running, but we haven’t had a clutch since about two this morning. Besides that, it’s running good. Everybody knows that the last five to six hours can last forever. They really don’t have a big enough lead (to bring it in for repairs). I think we have 10 or 11 laps. They’d have to split the car or take the nose off even to bleed it. It’s just not worth it.”

BILL RAND – Team owner and Driver in the SRPII leader and fourth-place overall #8 Nissan Lola of Rand Racing
“We couldn’t be happier right now. We are just going to keep going as we are going. Keep doing the current lap times that we are. Keep the car out of trouble. I’m ecstatic. I couldn’t be any happier. The way the crew and my co-drivers are keeping things together. It’s amazing.

“The car is running good. We had a slight oil leak problem. We had a bit of a gremlin that we think we got fixed. It cost us about 12 laps earlier. We could actually probably be in a little bit better of a position than we are, but like I said – I cannot complain. We just keep going at this pace and finish the race.”

TODD FLIS – Team owner of the AGT leader #09 Corvette of Flis Motorsports
“The car is running well. We’ve had a few minor problems that have had us making minor repairs here in the pits. We just finished replacing a belt, but luckily we caught it before it did major damage.”

MARTIN DIXON – Crew chief of the leading #37 Judd Lola and recently-retired #30 Judd Lola of Intersport Racing
“The #30 is done. The gearbox went, and then he (Clint Field) over revved the engine, which ended up doing us in.”
