Guy Smith
Update
British sportscar ace Guy Smith, has taken the Jim Matthews
Riley & Scott into second place in the Daytona Rolex after 2
and a half hours at the wheel.
The 27 year-old started the race, which began at 1.08pm local
time, before handing over to Scott Sharp for his first stint
in the car. Guy has complained of slight oversteer but is
nevertheless pretty happy with the car.
I started the race, the first time Ive done that for a
while, which was great but took a bit of getting into. Things
were going great until a guy spun right in front of me and I
had to take to the grass. That meant I had to do an extra stop
so considering we made two stops in total before handing over
to Scott, Im really happy with the result so far.
Of course its a long way to go but things are looking good so
far. Were behind David Brabham in the Ferrari at the moment
and the first few hours can be very hard on drivers and cars
and often thats when a lot get caught out. Well just have to
keep our heads down, keep out of trouble, and drive as fast as
possible.

1:05 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG -- The #27 Dallara leads the field to
the green flag, while the #38 Lola and #42 Porsche comes into
the pits before the start. The Orbit #42 Porsche reports the
throttle was sticking. The Champion #38 Lola had to change a
plug. The #06 Riley & Scott stalls while exiting the bus stop
with electrical problems. It will be towed back in. The only
car to not start the race was #19 Corvette who had clutch
problems this morning. The crew reports they will make repairs
and join the race later.
1:15 p.m. -- Running - Lap 4 - The #04 Marcos is black flagged
for spewing something out the back and it dirty. The cap came
off the oil reservoir. The crew replaces it and returns to the
race.
1:19 p.m. -- Running - Lap 7 - The #18 Mosler pits with
shifter problems. They repaired it in the pits and returned to
the race after fueling. The #43 Porsche, which NASCAR's Kyle
Petty is co-driving this race, enters the pits with a flat
tire. The team replaces it and returns to the race.
1:24 p.m. -- Running - Lap 10 - The #62 Kudzu pits to replace
the nose. The #34 Porsche of ZIP Racing comes into the pits
overheating.
1:24 p.m. -- Leaders - Lap 10 - Overall & SRP - #27 Dallara,

1:27 p.m. -- Running - Lap 11 - The third-place GT #56 Porsche
pulls off the track on the outside of the east horseshoe. It
is trying to restart, but is unsuccessful. The crew reports
the gas pedal fell.
1:30 p.m. - Running - Lap 13 - The #23 Ascari pits for fuel
and adjustments. The #18 Mosler is granted permission to go
behind the wall. The crew reports shift mechanism problems and
is working under the hood in the garage.
1:31 p.m. -- Running - Lap 14 - The #34 Porsche is granted
permission to go behind the wall. The #23 Ascari comes in slow
and low and goes behind the wall with a broken left front
wheel. The #33 Ferrari pulls on the back straightaway with a
flat tire. The #63 Kudzu is accessed a 10 second penalty for a
fueling violation.
1:35 p.m. -- Running - Lap 16 - The #89 Lola pits for fuel and
tires. The Intersport #30 Lola goes behind the wall.
1:41 p.m. -- Running - Lap 19 - The #19 Corvette joins the
race.
1:42 p.m. -- Leaders - Lap 20 - Overall & SRP - #27 Dallara,

1:46 p.m. -- Running - Lap 22 - The Sezio #87 Norma pulls off
the track. The #2 Crawford pits to put Mowlen in the car. The
#74 R&S pits to put Robinson in.
1:49 p.m. -- Running - Lap 23 - The Dyson #20 R&S pits for
fuel and tires. The #63 Kudzu in the pits for extended time
with suspension trouble.
1:52 p.m. -- Leader In The Pits - Lap 25 - The #27 Dallara
pits for fuel and tires only. The #42 Porsche pits for fuel
tires and shock adjustment. GTS leader #3 Jaguar pits for fuel
and tires only. The Intersport #37 Lola pits to put in Dayton.
The #34 Porsche returns to the race with repaired cooling
system.
1:54 p.m. -- Running - Lap 26 - The Dyson #16 is leak power
steering fluid. It pits for repairs and puts Butch Leitzinger
in the car. The #90 Corvette pits for tires and fuel with
NASCAR's Winston Cup Kevin Harvick still behind the wheel.
1:56 p.m. -- Running - Lap 27 - The Porschehaus #89 Lola blows
a right rear tire on the back straightaway.
1:57 p.m. -- Running - Lap 28 - The #53 Saleen pits putting in
Lambert. The #87 Norma returns to the pits from behind the
wall. The #16 R&S returns to the race.
1:59 p.m. -- Running - Lap 29 - The #89 Lola fixes its tired
and puts in Julien.
2:01 p.m. -- Running - Lap 30 - The #34 Porsche is leaking
coolant again.
2:02 p.m. -- Leaders - Lap 30 - Overall & SRP - #27 Dallara,
