January 27, 2004
CARPINTERIA, CA. – Pacific Coast Motorsports and
driver Alex Figge, #69, who competes in the CART Toyota Atlantic Series will expand to a
two car effort in 2004. Pacific Coast president Tyler Tadevic announced the addition of
2002 Toyota Atlantic Champion Jon Fogarty to pilot a second Pacific Coast Toyota/Swift
#96 in 2004. To further broaden the race teams reach for the Toyota Championship,
Tadevic also hired Burke Harrison (Allmendinger ’03, Fogarty ’02) and Tim Lewis (Sellers
’03, Ryley ’02) to engineer Pacific’s 2004 Atlantic effort. The two car team will kick
off a three day test at Sebring this week.
“The last three weeks have been very hectic, but I can’t complain about the results”.
States Tadevic, “We are pleased to announce the signing of Jon Fogarty to drive the
second Pacific Coast Team car along side Alex for this coming season. We’ve also been
fortunate enough to retain the engineering services of Burke Harrison and Tim Lewis for
the two cars. Burke will be working with Alex and Tim with Jon.”
Tadevic went on to say: “Toyota Atlantic represents the premiere open wheel “ladder”
series in the Americas, in order to compete at that level we felt the two car team made
sense. We then met with Fogarty and were able to get it worked out. His level of
commitment paralleled our objectives moving forward. Now with the addition of Burke and
Tim to our over all package…I can’t tell you how excited we are”.
Jon Fogarty, the 2002 Toyota Atlantic champion was last seen driving for Team Rahal at
select Atlantic events in 2003. Fogarty states.” I am fully stoked to be running with
Pacific Coast Motorsports and have Alex as my team mate. Winning in Atlantic takes the
right combination of people and equipment, Pacific Coast has all those ingredients. I’m
looking forward to being competitive through the course of the year.” Fogarty will
handle the #96 Pacific Coast Motorsports Toyota Atlantic entry.
The 2004 Toyota Atlantic series will mark Alex Figge’s third season of competition.
Figge had a respectable 2003 season, showing good speed and ability. He had four top
five finishes, sat on the front row at Laguna Seca and ended the year ninth in points.
Figge has this to say about 2004. ” I’m really excited at our prospects for the coming
season. With the addition of my friend Jon in our second car, coupled with the changes
to our engineering staff, I am confident we will see some substantial improvement over
our first year effort.” Figge will handle the #69 Pacific Coast Motorsports Toyota
Atlantic entry.
