Scenes from Carroll Shelby's Fall Children Foundation Concours
by Steven Levinson
October 28, 2006

Racing legend Carroll Shelby won the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans race in John Wyer's Aston Martin with teammate Roy Salvadori. In 1962 he began production of the Shelby Ford Cobra. In June 1990 he underwent successful heart transplant surgery. In September 1991 he started the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation to help children with organ and tissue donation and transplants. Every fall, Shelby has a "Concours D'Provenance" at his factory, Carroll Shelby Enterprises in Gardena, CA.

This annual event also presents a gathering of many drivers from the 1950s and '60s including Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Bob Bondurant, Dick Guldstrand, Tony Adamowicz, Chuck Daigh, John Morton, Billy Krause, Scooter Patrick, Tony Settember and Jim Jeffords. Phil Hill was unable to attend. The event had a buffet, live music, as well as a "Concours D'Provenance"..
