Worsham, Hagan Win NHRA Titles in Season Finale

Del Worsham capped his triumphant return to the Top Fuel ranks and Matt Hagan found redemption for the Funny Car title that got away, as the two celebrated their first career NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series national titles with victories in Sunday’s Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Worsham Takes No. 1 Qualifier at Pomona

Del Worsham moved one step closer to his first NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series national title on Saturday as he claimed the no. 1 qualifier spot in Top Fuel for Sunday’s season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona. Matt Hagan, Mike Edwards and Andrew Hines also secured top qualifier spots.
Worsham Takes Points Lead in Pomona Qualifying

Del Worsham inched ahead of Top Fuel points leader Spencer Massey in Friday’s qualifying session for Sunday’s NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. With the Countdown to the Championship coming down to the wire in Top Fuel and Funny Car, bonus points were on everyone’s mind and Worsham capitalized.
Worsham, Capps, Edwards, Krawiec win in Vegas

Jason Line clinched his second NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock world championship when racing came to an end Sunday at the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Del Worsham, Ron Capps, Mike Edwards, and Eddie Krawiec raced to wins in their respective categories at the penultimate race of the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing season.
Capps, Worsham, Edwards, Arana lead Vegas fields

Ron Capps rebounded from a DNQ two weeks ago to take the No. 1 spot in Funny Car at the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas. Del Worsham (Top Fuel), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock), and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also lead their fields into eliminations. Del Worsham was the only driver to break into the 3.7s on the way to earning the top spot with a 3.796-second pass in NHRA Top Fuel qualifying at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday.
Nobile, Arana Jr., Dixon, Beckman score in Phoenix

Jack Beckman raced to his third Firebird Int'l Raceway win and took over the Funny Car points lead as racing came to a close Sunday at the NHRA Arizona Nationals. Larry Dixon and rookies Vincent Nobile and Hector Arana Jr. were also winners in their respective categories at the fourth of six races in the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship, the six-race playoffs to determine the world championships.

Spencer Massey, Robert Hight, Jason Line and Hector Arana, Jr. raced their way to victories on Monday to cap a record-shattering weekend for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series in the rain-delayed 27th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa. Racing resumed Monday morning under cloudy skies after rain washed out Sunday’s action.
Brown Tops National Record in Maple Grove Qualifying

Antron Brown set a new national record with the second-quickest time in NHRA Top Fuel history on is way to securing the no. 1 qualifier spot for Sunday’s 27th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa.  Johnny Gray topped the track ET record to score his first career no.1 qualifier in Funny Car, joining top qualifiers Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana, Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

Matt Hagan clocked in with the fourth quickest pass in NHRA Funny Car history to take the provisional pole for Sundays 27th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa. Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec also took the provisional no. 1 qualifier spot in their respective divisions.
Vandergriff's first Top Fuel win highlights Dallas finals

Bob Vandergriff Jr., appearing in his 14th final round, finally won his first NHRA Top Fuel event to highlight Sunday’s final eliminations at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex, the second of six races in the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship, the six-race playoffs to determine the world championships. Joining Vandergriff in the winner’s circle were Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock), and Michael Phillips (Pro Stock Motorcycle).
Busch Spanks Rivals in New Hampshire

The Magic Mile gave Kyle Busch a chance to show his mastery. Busch started from the pole and dominated Saturday’s F.W. Webb 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, a race in which only six Camping World Truck Series entries finished on the lead lap. Busch, who led 165 of 175 laps, crossed the finish line 3.816 seconds ahead of runner-up Austin Dillon to post his sixth win in 14 starts this season and the 30th victory of his career.
Familiar faces top final Dallas fields

Tony Schumacher raced to the No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel Saturday at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals and will try to end one of the longest winless droughts of his career on Sunday. Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock), and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also will lead their respective categories into tomorrow’s 11 a.m. eliminations as the No. 1 qualifiers at the second of six events in the Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship, NHRA’s playoffs.

Matt Hagan completed the weekend sweep and Kurt Johnson scored his first victory in over three years as the Countdown to the Championship kicked off in Sunday’s fourth annual NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series O’Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at zMax Dragway in Concord, NC. Antron Brown also took home the victory in Top Fuel while Eddie Krawiec won the Pro Stock Motorcycle final. In a weekend that saw track records fall across the board, Sunday was no exception as new national records were set.

Matt Hagan Sets National Record in zMax Qualifying

Matt Hagan became the first Funny Car driver in NHRA history to break the 3-second mark, pulling off the feat with a run of 3.995 at 316.25 mph to lead Friday’s qualifying session for the fourth annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at zMax Dragway in Concord, NC. Hagan’s final run of the day shattered the track record of 4.024 set by Robert Hight in March of 2010.

Antron Brown and his Don Schumacher Racing teammates flexed their muscles and raced their way to the top of the Top Fuel leaderboard on Saturday in the second day of qualifying for Monday's 57th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway near Indianapolis, Ind. Cruz Pedregon remained the top qualifier in Funny Car, while Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also held onto their provisional poles with two more sessions remaining during Sunday’s final qualifying.

Johnny Gray collected his first Pro victory, scoring in Funny Car at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd Int'l Raceway. He was joined in the winner’s circle by Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and reigning world champs Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle). The event is the 15th of 22 events in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. Pro Stock driver-turned Funny Car pilot Gray raced to his first NHRA win when his run of 4.113 at 307.02 mph

Del Worsham raced to the No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel Saturday at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. Matt Hagan, Jason Line, and Eddie Krawiec also took the provisional top spots in their respective categories at the 15th of 22 events in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. Worsham drove his Al-Anabi dragster to the top of the field with a run of 3.808-seconds at 322.04 mph.

Antron Brown raced to his third Top Fuel victory of the season Sunday at Infineon Raceway and clinched a berth in the Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship, NHRA’s playoffs. Ron Capps (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners at the FRAM / Autolite NHRA Nationals, the 13th of 22 races in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
Corvette wins GT barnstormer in Mosport

Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing collected its second victory in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n on Sunday at Mosport International Raceway with drivers Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf. Behind them, an intense series of events ended BMW Team RLL’s GT win streak, as Jan Magnussen and Oliver Gavin scored Corvette Racing’s first win since the 2010 season finale.

Robert Hight raced to his fourth Funny Car victory of the season Sunday and in the process set the national speed record at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers. Larry Dixon (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) also were winners at Bristol Dragway in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. In Top Fuel, Dixon claimed his first win of the season and his sixth Father’s Day victory by outrunning Antron Brown in the final round.

Bob Tasca III solidified his first NHRA Funny Car no. 1 qualifying spot in over a year with a record setting pass in Saturday’s qualifying sessions for Sunday’s NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. Brandon Bernstein topped the field in the Top Fuel ladder while Allen Johnson led the Pro Stock class.

Spencer Massey won his second Top Fuel title by defeating hard-luck Bob Vandergriff Jr., who lost his 13th straight final round, Robert Hight collected the milestone 200th for John Force Racing in Funny Car, and Shane Gray the second of his career in Pro Stock at the NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.

Antron Brown, Jack Beckman and Jason Line each earned another victory while LE Tonglet tallied his first win of the season in Sunday’s final eliminations at the 31st annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. Brown claimed his second Top Fuel victory after easily skating into the final round to face his Don Schumacher Racing teammate Tony Schumacher.

John Force scored his 138th-career pole on Saturday to tie legendary NHRA Pro Stock driver Warren Johnson as the all-time top qualifier in NHRA history, pulling off a record setting run for Sunday’s 31st annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. Spencer Massey earned the no.1 qualifier spot in Top Fuel, with Mike Edwards topping the ladder in Pro Stock and defending Pro Stock Motorcycle champion LE Tonglet winning his second pole of the season.

Worsham, Beckman, Anderson prevail in Charlotte

After a 15-year absence from the Top Fuel ranks, Del Worsham continued his storybook return in winning his second race of the year by edging Al-Anabi Toyota teammate Larry Dixon with a 3.813-second pass to Dixon’s 3.821 run at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway in Concord, N.C.  The win is the fifth straight for a Toyota-sponsored car in Top Fuel competition.

Worsham, Neff, Line, Krawiec Top Gatornationals

Del Worsham, Mike Neff, Jason Line, and Eddie Krawiec picked up the victories on Sunday to close out a record-setting weekend at the 42nd annual NHRA Tire Kingdom Gatornationals at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway in the second event of the season of the 60th Anniversary season for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. All four divisions topped the record books with new top speed records in Top Fuel, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle and a new low ET record in Funny Car.
Saturday qualifying from the Gatornationals

Matt Hagan, Tony Schumacher, Rodger Brogdon, and Hector Arana secured pole positions in a record-breaking weekend qualifying session for Sunday's 42nd annual NHRA Tire Kingdom Gatornationals at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway.  Track records were shattered in the early qualifying sessions as the mild north Florida weather and cool track conditions led to record speeds, with new tracks records set in Funny Car and Top Fuel as well as new national records in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Lucas Wins All-Toyota Top Fuel Final At Pomona

Morgan Lucas defeated teammate Shawn Langdon in an all-Toyota Top-Fuel final to win the NHRA Winternationals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona Sunday.  The Morgan Lucas Racing teammates also graduated together from Jurupa Valley High School in nearby Mira Loma, Calif. The victory was the first for Lucas since winning at Memphis in 2009.  On the way to the win, he defeated Brandon Bernstein, Terry McMillen, Worsham and, finally, Langdon.  Langdon also had an impressive run to the final defeating T.J. Zizzo, Tony Schumacher and Brown.  The impressive run marked his second consecutive finals appearance.
