Langdon, Gray, Coughlin Winners in Kansas Nationals

Johnny Gray raced to his third victory of the season Sunday and moved back into the Funny Car points lead at the 25th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals. Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel) and Jeg Coughlin (Pro Stock) also were winners in their respective categories at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event. All three winners were presented special-edition silver Wally trophies in honor of the event’s 25th anniversary.

Force, Langdon, Edwards Top Topeka Qualifying

John Force ended a 19-race No. 1 qualifying slump by racing to a track record performance in Funny Car Saturday at the 25th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals. Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) also will lead their categories into Sunday’s 11 a.m. eliminations at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event.

Brown, Gray, Edwards Win Rain-Delayed Southern Nats

Antron Brown, Johnny Gray and Mike Edwards went to the Winner’s Circle – albeit a week late – in Saturday’s 33rd -annual NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. Following a one-week delay for rain - and another short rain delay during Saturday’s eliminations – Brown emerged victorious over Brandon Bernstein for his second victory of the season, posting a 3.801 at 321.25 mph.

Vandergriff, Pedregon, Line, Arana Jr. win in Houston

Cruz Pedregon became the first two-time winner in the Funny Car category in 2013 by racing to the victory Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway. Bob Vandergriff Jr. (Top Fuel), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event near Houston.

Massey, Hagan, Edwards, Arana, Jr. Four-Wide Winners

Spencer Massey returned to Victory Lane in the Four-Wide Nationals for the second straight year, while Matt Hagan and Mike Edwards celebrated their first victories of the season in Sunday’s fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. Hector Arana, Jr. scored his second-straight win in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class, making their first appearance in the Four-Wide Nationals since 2010.

Edwards breaks Record in zMax Qualifying

Mike Edwards recorded the fastest pass in Pro Stock history and scored his fifth-straight no.1 qualifier in Saturday’s qualifying sessions for Sunday’s fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. Chad Head picked up his first career no. 1 qualifier to lead the Funny Car division, while Shawn Landon (Top Fuel) and Hector Arana, Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) both notched their first top qualifiers of the season.

Johnson doubles; Schumacher, Pedregon also win

Allen Johnson raced to the Pro Stock victory Sunday at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals and claimed more than $100,000 during the weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel) and Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car) also were winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event. Johnson cruised to his second consecutive win of the season and second straight at this event.

Brown turns in dominating Gatornationals performance

Antron Brown scored his first Top Fuel final round of the season to give Don Schumacher Racing their 200th NHRA Mellow Yellow Drag Racing Series victory in Sunday with a win in the 44th annual Gatornationals at Auto-Plus Raceway in Gainesville, Fla. Johnny Gray won in the Funny Car division, while Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana, Jr. also collected their first Gatornationals wins in Sunday’s eliminations.

Kalitta, Pedregon, Edwards, Smith lead Gatornats field

Doug Kalitta, Cruz Pedregon, Mike Edwards and Matt Smith raced to no. 1 qualifier positions in Saturday’s final rounds of qualifying for Sunday’s 44th Annual Gatornationals NHRA Mellow Yellow Drag Racing Series event at Gainesville. Kalitta backed up his low ET from Friday’s second round with a pass of 3.779 seconds at 326.32 mph in the final run of the session to knock off Antron Brown and re-claim the top spot for his second straight no. 1 qualifier of the season and the 33rd of his career.

Courtney Force raced to victory in Funny Car Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals presented by Super Start Batteries at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel) and Vincent Nobile (Pro Stock) also were winners at the first of 24 events in the 2013 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.  Force powered her Traxxas Ford Mustang past NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger driver Ron Capps with a pass of 4.025 seconds at 317.12 mph to earn her second career victory.
