Force, alBalooshi, Line, Krawiec Win at Sonoma

Courtney Force beat father John Force in the final to become the winningest female in Funny Car history at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals on Sunday. Khalid alBalooshi (Top Fuel), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Sonoma Raceway. Force outran her father with a 4.253-second pass at 296.24 mph.
Brittany and Courtney Force Lead Sonoma Qualifying

Brittany Force (Top Fuel), Courtney Force (Funny Car), Shane Gray (Pro Stock) and Jerry Savoie (Pro Stock Motorcycle) earned No. 1 qualifying positions and will lead their categories into Sunday's 11 a.m. eliminations at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event in Northern California. In Top Fuel, Brittany Force claimed her third No. 1 qualifier of the season and third of her career with a 3.762 at 325.53 in her Castrol EDGE dragster.
Todd, Hight, Johnson, Hines Tops in Denver

J.R. Todd earned his first Top Fuel win of the season and first since 2008, by racing to victory Sunday at the Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway. Robert Hight (Funny Car), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were winners in their respective categories at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event outside of Denver.

Tony Schumacher raced to his first No. 1 qualifying position of the year and his career first in his storied career at Bandimere Speedway during qualifying for the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals. John Force (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock), and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) will lead their categories when eliminations begin Sunday at 11 a.m. for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event outside of Denver.

Defending NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car World Champion John Force won his 140th-career victory with a win in the finals over his long-time rival Ron Capps in Sunday’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. Antron Brown won in the Top Fuel division to pick up his fifth win of the season, while Erica Enders-Stevens swept the weekend in the Pro Stocks. Andrew Hines won out in the Pro Stock Motorcycle bracket.

Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), Del Worsham (Funny Car), Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) topped Saturday’s final qualifying sessions for Sunday’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. Langdon, the defending Top Fuel World Champion, bested his own previous track record elapsed time of 3.752 seconds with a run of 3.745 at 325.22 mph to post his third top qualifier of the season and 16th of his career.

Matt Hagan ended an eleven race winless streak in Funny Car with a victory Sunday at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals. Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Vincent Nobile (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway.

Tommy Johnson Jr. ran his first career three-second pass in Funny Car to claim the No. 1 qualifier for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway. Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also claimed No. 1 qualifying positions and will lead their respective classes into tomorrow’s 11 a.m. eliminations at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event.

Ron Capps raced to his first victory of the season in Funny Car Sunday at the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals. Capps’ Dodge Charger defeated runner-up Alexis DeJoria with a 4.095-second run at 315.19 mph to claim the 41st victory of his career in Funny Car. It was his first finals appearance since Brainerd last season. Capps had reached five semifinal rounds this season.

Tommy Johnson, Jr. scored his first NHRA victory in seven years with a win over Tim Wilkerson in the Funny Car finals in Sunday’s Thunder Valley Nationals NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Bristol Dragway. Defending Top Fuel World Champion Shawn Langdon defeated Doug Kalitta to score his first Wally of the season, while Pro Stock points leader Erica Ender-Stevens notched her third win of the year with a victory over Jonathan Gray.

Brittany Force (Top Fuel), Del Worsham (Funny Car) and Shane Gray (Pro Stock) raced to the top of the ladder in their respective divisions in Saturday’s final qualifying session for the NHRA Mello Mello Drag Racing Series Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. With rain wiping out the second round of Top Fuel qualifying on Friday, that left just two rounds on Saturday to set the field, but with only 16 entries, no one was in danger of going home early.
Crampton becomes 100th Top Fuel winner

Richie Crampton claimed his first career Top Fuel victory, becoming the 100th different winner in the category, at the Toyota NHRA Summernationals on Sunday. Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock), and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were respective winners at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Crampton powered his GEICO/Lucas Oil dragster to a 3.819-second pass at 320.51 mph to defeat Top Fuel points leader Doug Kalitta in the final round.

  After record 100th win by a female
The following are excerpts from a teleconference featuring NHRA Funny Car racer Courtney Force who secured the 100th win by a female in NHRA history with her victory in Topeka over Cruz Pedregon. From the first win by a female in the history of the NHRA by Shirley Muldowney in 1976 to today, 14 women different women have earned victories to make up that 100 wins. This was the first win of the season for Courtney and the fourth of her career. During the event, she was also the No. 1 qualifier going into Sunday. During the day she defeated Dale Creasy, Jr., Jeff Arend and Tommy Johnson, Jr. before outrunning Pedregon in the final.

Courtney Force raced to the landmark 100th victory by a female in NHRA history Sunday at the NHRA Kansas Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka. Spencer Massey (Top Fuel) and Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) also were winners of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event. In her second attempt to earn the much sought after milestone victory in as many weeks, Force outran veteran Funny Car driver Cruz Pedregon in the final round to take the historic win, her first of the season and fourth of her career.

Immediately following Enders-Stevens’ win, Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Robert Hight (Funny Car) each raced down Royal Purple Raceway to secure their third victories of the season.

Jimmy Alund scored the biggest win of his drag racing career on Sunday, as the 46-year old fill-in driver from Norrkoping, Sweden beat out three other drivers to win the Pro Stock final at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. Antron Brown won out in the Top Fuel division, Robert Hight took the top spot in the Funny Car division and Andrew Hines took the win in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car), Chris McGaha (Pro Stock) and Michael Ray (Pro Stock Motorcycle) took the top qualifying positions in Saturday’s final round of qualifying for Sunday’s fourth-annual Four-Wide Nationals NHRA Mello Yello Drag racing Series event at zMax Dragway. Qualifying in quadruple sets of four-wide action on the NHRA’s only four-lane dragstrip, the top drivers in all four major divisions remained unchanged from Friday’s afternoon session.

Girl power reigned supreme as Alexis DeJoria (Funny Car) and Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) raced to victories Sunday at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel) also was a winner at the fourth event on the 2014 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. It was the second time that two female drivers have earned victories at the same NHRA event. In 2012, Courtney Force and Enders-Stevens made history as the first pair of females to win the same race at Pacific Raceways near Seattle.

Alexis DeJoria raced to her first career Funny Car victory Sunday at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) also were winners of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at the multi-purpose motorsports facility near Phoenix. DeJoria powered her Toyota Camry to a winning performance of 4.043 seconds at 309.63 mph to defeat Robert Hight, whose Ford Mustang lost traction. DeJoria raced past Jeff Arend, Del Worsham and red-hot event top qualifier John Force to advance to the final.

A triumphant return for Auto Club Dragway

After a lengthy and expensive court battle followed by the installation of an extremely expensive sound deterrent system, the Auto Club Dragway will be returning to racing this month much to the delight of race teams and fans from all over the southern California region.
